A whistle-stop tour of eight of the greatest fesco cycles in Italian art.  We begin with the ground-breaking St Francis cycle in the Upper Church of San Francesco in Assisi, then travel to Padua, Siena and Florence.  We finish the tour in Arezzo with Piero della Francesca's entrancing Legend of the True Cross.  We will gain new insight into these works, find out why they are important and - above all - enjoy some of the greatest stories ever told in paint!

Janet Robinson is an independent art historian with a BA in History of Art from UCL, an MA in Early Sienese Painting and a PhD in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art.  Janet has been lecturing for 15 years and currently teaches summer school for the Courtauld.  She has published widely on early Renaissance Italian art and held research fellowships at the British School at Rome and at the Harvard University Centre at Villa I Tatti in Florence.
