Powis Castle and Gardens
The Arts Society trip to the Welsh Marches began in Wales - with a visit to Powis Castle and Gardens, a spectacular National Trust property with a “border “ history and superb terraced gardens descending hundreds of feet from its commanding heights.
The tour continued to include the towns of Ludlow, Shrewsbury and their architectural gems , as well as the museums of Ironbridge.
The group photograph was taken at Hellens, a small and eccentric century’s old family home . It is (obviously) haunted . The tea lady when asked, described her own encounter!
This was Alvi Shaw's swan-song and of course her very many years of experience ensured perfection in everything , even the weather!

Industrial Ironbridge and The Welsh Marches
After the success of our spring holiday to Cornwall in April 2024, bookings are now being taken for our trip to the Welsh Marches and Industrial Ironbridge from 18th to 22nd May 2025. The bookings are direct with Success Tours, who have run our holidays post-COVID. This safeguards your bookings in case of any perturbations. They are affiliated with The Arts Society nationally, and the holiday is tailored to TASH interests, and conducted by Alvi Shaw.
