Tuesday 6 June 2017 (Booking 20 April)
Burford, a historic Cotswold market town formerly associated with the wool trade, has attractive 15th and 16th century houses. There will be independent time to see the beautiful church of St John the Baptist which has five stars in Simon Jenkins's indispensible book, England's Thousand Best Churches. Sezincote House in Gloucestershire, to which we will have a private visit in the afternoon, is idiosyncratic and unique in its architectural mix of Hindu and Islamic elements and its elegant interior. The Prince of Wales's visit to Sezincote in 1807 inspired him to Indianise the Brighton Pavilion.
